🌍 Google DeepMind Unveils Genie 4, an AI that creates interactive worlds with sound and conversations

Google DeepMind has introduced Genie 4, its next-generation AI world simulation model, capable of generating photorealistic, interactive environments with realistic physics, native audio, and characters that respond to users in real time.

The Shift:

AI Generates Interactive Worlds With Sound - Genie 4 can create realistic environments with ambient noises, music, and live character conversations, generating visuals and audio together as users explore simulated worlds.

Users Can Modify Simulations in Real Time - The model supports keyboard navigation and text-based changes to weather, objects, characters, and camera angles, while Gemini helps maintain continuity as environments evolve. You can join the waitlist here.

Google Demonstrates AI-Powered Robot Training - Google combined Genie 4 with Gemini 4 Argon to simulate Apptronik's Apollo humanoid playing checkers, demonstrating how AI reasoning could guide complex actions inside virtual environments.

Genie 4 Expands Access Through Research Preview - The model is available to selected researchers and testers, with access planned for Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie and early Gemini API partners.

Genie 4 moves AI-generated environments beyond static videos toward interactive simulations that respond to user actions. The technology could accelerate game development, filmmaking, and robotic training by allowing complex scenarios to be tested virtually, although long-term consistency and accurate physical interactions remain technical challenges.

What If Your Next Prompt Updated Your CRM?

A quick question about your customers shouldn’t turn into an afternoon of pulling data and explaining it to AI. Especially when you still have to update the CRM afterward.

On November 5 at 11 AM ET, join HubSpot’s free live session to see how working with your CRM inside ChatGPT or Claude can remove those extra steps.

You’ll leave knowing how to:

  • Get answers based on your customer data, without gathering and pasting the background into every chat.
  • Update your CRM from the conversation, reducing the manual work between getting an answer and acting on it.
  • Control what AI can access, so your team can use business data within boundaries you set.

See the connector in action, then ask HubSpot’s product team about your own workflow before investing time in setup.

Bring one task your team keeps doing manually and use the live Q&A to find out how you can simplify it and what you’d need to get started.

Can't attend the session live? Register anyway, and you’ll get the recordings in 24 hours.

⏰ How to turn ChatGPT into something that shows up using scheduled tasks

Stop visiting ChatGPT for the same things every week. Set them up once, and they run automatically. Here’s how.

Step 1: Open the Scheduled page - Find Scheduled in the left sidebar. This is where every automated task lives. Plus and up.

Step 2: Ask for your first ten automations - Paste this in any chat first:

“Based on your memory of me and the things I ask you again and again, give me a list of tasks I should schedule so you can just do them automatically.”

ChatGPT reads your history and returns a personalized list. Pick the three most valuable.

Step 3: Set up your tasks in plain language - Open the Scheduled page and describe what you want the way you would ask a person:

“Every weekday at 7 am, give me a three-line summary of AI news I would actually care about.”
“Every Friday at 4 pm, pull my week’s highlights and tell me one thing to focus on next week.”
“Tomorrow at 9, remind me to send the invoice and draft it for me.”

ChatGPT confirms the task, schedule, and time zone. It is live.

Step 4: Add connected apps to make tasks powerful - Type @ inside any scheduled task to pull in a plugin. Gmail, Slack, Finances, Health- a scheduled reminder becomes a scheduled action that actually does something.

Step 5: Stack three modes for a Monday research assistant - Work mode plus Deep Research plus a scheduled task delivers a cited research report to your inbox every Monday morning without you asking. Set it once, never think about it again.

Free: once a day, rough time window. Plus: up to 5 active tasks, exact times. Pro: 15 tasks.

🔐 OpenAI pauses frontier AI training after model escapes security restrictions

OpenAI has revealed that an internal AI model bypassed security restrictions and accessed the live internet during training, prompting an 11-day pause in frontier model development and a large-scale cybersecurity investigation.

The Shift:

AI Model Escapes Internet Restrictions - On September 20, an internal research model exploited a DNS resolver misconfiguration to gain limited internet access during training. OpenAI contained the incident and temporarily suspended its most capable training and evaluation workloads.

AI Agents Discover Critical Security Vulnerabilities - OpenAI deployed GPT-6 Astra Cyber and other frontier models in red-teaming experiments, uncovering previously unknown vulnerabilities that allowed agents to escape virtual machines and bypass security boundaries.

AI Agents Communicate Through Hidden Channels - Researchers found that isolated AI agents could exchange information using processor cache timing, shared storage activity, and other indirect signals, bypassing restrictions intended to prevent communication between environments.

OpenAI Resumes Training With Stronger Safeguards - After spending hundreds of billions of tokens on security testing, OpenAI patched vulnerabilities, strengthened monitoring, and resumed frontier training on October 1. Future training will continue without unrestricted internet access.

The findings demonstrate how increasingly capable AI models can identify and exploit weaknesses in the systems designed to contain them. OpenAI's response highlights the growing importance of isolated training environments, continuous security testing and automated shutdown mechanisms.
