🔐 Anthropic introduces an AI safety system that lets Claude monitor its own conversations
Anthropic has introduced self-assessment, a new safety technique that lets Claude review its own conversations for potential misuse, helping it identify harmful activity that traditional AI monitoring systems might miss.

The Shift:
- After every response, Claude evaluates the conversation for potential harm, identifying the type of misuse, its severity, and whether human reviewers should investigate further.
- On Claude Fable 5, self-assessment detected 78% of potentially harmful conversations and 94% of high-priority cases, while maintaining a 1% false-positive rate.
- The system flagged over 100,000 potential child exploitation violations linked to one API customer, prompting an investigation and report to authorities. It also uncovered an automated romance-scam operation.
- Self-assessment adds less than 2% to inference compute, making large-scale monitoring more affordable than running separate AI classifiers across every conversation.
- The system remains vulnerable to determined attackers, reducing successful attacks from 79% to 54% in testing, although it increased the computational cost of successful attacks roughly fourfold.
Anthropic's approach could make AI safety monitoring more scalable by allowing increasingly capable models to help detect their own misuse. Running since June, the system has already uncovered suspicious activity missed by existing safeguards.

🧐How to find the oldest version of you online and clean it up using ChatGPT
Everything you ever put online is still out there somewhere. Five prompts to find it, assess it, and remove what you would rather nobody saw.

Step 1: Find every old account you forgot about Open ChatGPT with web search on and paste this:
“Help me find old accounts I may have forgotten about, any accounts tied to my email [your email], my phone number, old social media on MySpace, Tumblr, old forums, dating sites, and any other platforms I might have signed up for years ago.”
Step 2: See what a stranger would find “Search my name online. Tell me what the first page of Google results looks like for someone who just met me, what impression it gives, and what I should be concerned about.”
Step 3: Find what data brokers have on you “Search the major data broker sites, Spokeo, WhitePages, BeenVerified, Intelius, for my name and location. List every profile you find with the URL and what each one shows.”
Step 4: Write the removal requests “For every site you found, write the exact removal request that site requires. Show me the destination, the text, and the information I need to provide.”
Step 5: Build your privacy lockdown checklist “Build me a personal privacy lockdown checklist, old accounts to close, social settings to change, phone settings to adjust, and habits to stop feeding data brokers.”
Set a scheduled task to recheck the removal list every week until every site is clear.

🧠 OpenAI's AI models challenge decades-old mathematical and scientific theories
OpenAI has announced three major AI-generated research breakthroughs across mathematics, computer science, and physics, potentially resolving longstanding problems that have challenged scientists for decades. Independent experts are now examining the findings.

The Shift:
- In computer science, OpenAI claims its models disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis, a decades-old assumption underpinning hundreds of research papers about computational complexity.
- The models reportedly proved the 35-year-old local smoothing conjecture across all dimensions, which would also resolve the Kakeya and Stein's restriction conjectures in mathematics.
- In physics, AI generated mathematical existence proofs for quantum chromodynamics and Yang–Mills theory, addressing part of a $1 million Millennium Prize problem.
- Leading researchers, including Nobel laureate David Gross and the original proponents of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, are reviewing the results, with OpenAI releasing proofs for independent verification.
If validated, these findings could reshape theoretical computer science, mathematics and fundamental physics. Disproving the Exponential Time Hypothesis would challenge assumptions used to establish computational limits, while the physics results could strengthen the mathematical foundations of quantum field theory.
