⚔️ OpenAI Signed the Pentagon Deal, Anthropic Wouldn't
Anthropic lost its government contract over AI safety limits. OpenAI stepped in within two hours, claiming the same guardrails. The fallout hit both companies fast and in opposite directions.

The Decode:
1. Anthropic held firm and got cut off - Anthropic was the Pentagon's first AI lab partner, but refused to drop safety limits. Trump cut ties, and War Secretary Pete Hegseth added a "supply chain risk" tag, one only ever used on foreign adversaries like Huawei.
2. The Pentagon reportedly still used Claude anyway - Despite the ban, Claude was reportedly used in Iran strikes after Anthropic was dropped. The government cut ties publicly but continued relying on the same technology it flagged as a supply chain risk.
3. OpenAI signed the deal within hours - OpenAI stepped in fast with the same red lines, plus one more: no automated high-stakes decisions. The contract is cloud-only and keeps OpenAI's safety controls fully intact throughout.
4. Altman publicly backed Anthropic despite signing the deal - In an X AMA, Altman called the Anthropic ban "a very bad decision," admitted the deal felt rushed, and said optics were poor. OpenAI also asked the Pentagon to offer the same contract terms to all AI labs.
OpenAI gained government access. Anthropic gained public trust. Claude hit No. 1 on Apple's App Store, and a "Cancel ChatGPT" movement spread across X and Reddit. Whether OpenAI's guardrails actually hold is still unproven, and that answer will define which bet pays off long-term.

Together with Norton Neo
AI That Lives In Your Browser. Not In The Cloud.

You had exactly what you needed open. Then your browser crashed and took all 23 tabs with it. The research, the doc, the three reference pages, gone.
Now you're spending 20 minutes rebuilding a session that took two hours to build.
Norton Neo is the world's first AI-native browser, meaning the AI isn't an extension you installed; it lives inside the browser itself.
It tracks your open tabs, understands how you're working, and keeps your context safe so when something goes wrong, you're not starting from zero.
- Recover full sessions across any device instead of rebuilding from scratch
- Tabs are organized by context, not the order you opened them
- Keep browsing history local so sensitive research never leaves your machine
- Block phishing and malicious sites before they compromise payments or logins
No extra extensions stacking up. No AI tools floating in separate tabs. Just a browser built for how people actually use the web today.
If you want early access to what’s coming next, join the Norton Neo Discord and connect directly with the team building it.

⚡ Diffusion AI Is Now Fast Enough to Replace Your Production LLM
Inception Labs just launched Mercury 2, a reasoning model built on diffusion architecture, the same core approach behind AI image generators, now applied to text. The speed gap it creates is significant.

The Decode:
1. It generates text like an editor, not a typewriter - Mercury 2 skips sequential token prediction entirely. It starts with a rough full draft and refines everything in parallel, producing multiple tokens simultaneously across a small number of refinement steps.
2. The speed numbers are hard to ignore - Independent testing clocked Mercury 2 at 1,196 tokens per second. Claude Haiku runs at ~89 tokens/sec, GPT-5 Mini at ~73. That's over 10x faster than comparable models at a similar price point.
3. Intelligence holds up despite the speed - Mercury 2 ranked 18 out of 134 models on Artificial Analysis's intelligence index, scoring 33 against an average of 19, with strong performance in agentic coding and instruction-following.
4. Pricing and compatibility make it easy to adopt - $0.25 per million input tokens, $0.75 per million output. Supports tool use, 128K context, and structured outputs. Drops into any OpenAI-compatible stack with zero rewrites.
Andrej Karpathy, former OpenAI researcher and Inception investor, recently described the emerging "Claw" layer of always-on local agents as "a personal digital house elf." In agent loops, latency compounds fast. A 10x speed advantage doesn't just save time, it changes what's buildable.

🧩Prompt of the Day
How to Build a Tone of Voice Matrix That Keeps Your Brand Consistent
Turn mixed messaging across platforms into a structured tone system your team can follow everywhere.
Paste the prompt: Drop this into ChatGPT, then fill in your brand name and preferred personality traits.
Prompt to paste
Create a tone of voice matrix for [Brand]. Map tone variations across Website, Social Media, and Customer Support. For each channel, define the tone level (formal vs informal, direct vs conversational), key language rules, and provide 2 short example lines that show how the brand should sound. Keep it clear, practical, and easy for teams to apply consistently.
