🔄 OpenAI reshuffles before its IPO

OpenAI is simultaneously reshaping its leadership, reorganizing safety operations, and confronting the enormous financing demands behind its infrastructure ambitions.

The Decode:

1. Top Executives Leave - Recent exits include Fidji Simo, No. 2 executive, Brad Lightcap, former COO, and Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer. Co-founder Greg Brockman is stepping up, while former Wiz President and COO Dali Rajic takes over revenue.

2. Safety Leaders Exit - OpenAI has also lost Chloé Bakalar, Head of Ethics, Johannes Heidecke, Head of Safety Systems, and Joshua Achiam, Chief Futurist and former Head of Mission Alignment. Former safety leader Sandhini Agarwal left in July.

3. Preparedness Team Ends - OpenAI reportedly disbanded its Preparedness Team, which evaluated severe AI risks. Its head, Dylan Scandinaro, will now focus on recursive self-improving AI, while bio and cyber work moves elsewhere.

4. Compute Ambitions Continue - OpenAI is still discussing a lease for the full 10GW Ohio data center project. If completed, it would represent an enormous step toward controlling more of its underlying AI infrastructure.

OpenAI's pre-IPO transformation extends beyond executive turnover. The company is reorganizing leadership and safety while attempting to finance the massive compute infrastructure required for its next stage of growth.

No dashboards. No exports. Just ask and get answers from your live data.

Step 1: Connect Omnisend to Claude - Link your Omnisend account to Claude via MCP. One setup, done once. Claude now reads your live campaigns, automations, and subscriber data directly.

Step 2: Check your subscriber growth in seconds - Ask Claude: "Show me my subscriber growth trend over the last 30 days." It pulls the data instantly, no opening a dashboard, no building a report.

Step 3: Find which welcome email earns the most - Ask: "Which email in my welcome flow has the highest conversion rate?" Claude reads your automation data and tells you exactly which message is doing the work, and which ones aren't.

Step 4: Catch rising bounce rates before they cost you - Ask: "Are my bounce rates trending up?" Claude flags the issue and tells you which list segments are affected before it starts hurting your deliverability.

Step 5: Get a lapsed buyer segment with the email already drafted - Ask: "Build me a re-engagement campaign for subscribers who haven't opened in 90 days." Claude identifies the segment and drafts the email, ready to review and send.

🤖 Anthropic CEO pushes back on AI power and regulation claims

A claim from prominent tech investor Gavin Baker triggered a public clash with Anthropic over AI power, regulation, and growing public distrust.

The Decode:

1. Monopoly Allegation - Baker claimed sources told him Amodei envisioned a future where Anthropic could become the only major private company alongside governments. Anthropic researcher Sholto Douglas publicly called the allegation completely false.

2. Safety Backlash - Baker argued Amodei’s warnings about bioweapons, mass job displacement, and other AI dangers have backfired. He believes those warnings helped intensify resistance toward AI data centers and broader regulation.

3. Dario Pushes Back - Amodei rejected the choice between extreme regulation and no regulation. He pointed to California’s SB53, a transparency law for frontier AI developers, arguing it places greater obligations on powerful labs like Anthropic than smaller competitors.

4. Crisis of Trust - Amodei said public AI anxiety is “fundamentally a crisis of trust,” arguing tech companies have spent decades “overpromising and underdelivering.” He also connected his push for AI-driven medicine to losing his father to Hepatitis C shortly before an effective cure became available.

The clash highlights a growing question for AI: how do you regulate frontier labs without concentrating power further or destroying public trust?
