🤖 Visa and Mastercard Bring AI Shopping to Life

Visa and Mastercard just launched new platforms, Visa Intelligent Commerce and Mastercard Agent Pay, to power the next phase of AI-driven shopping. These tools let AI agents not only recommend products but complete purchases on behalf of users with built-in safety, personalization, and payment controls.

The Decode:

1. Visa’s AI Shopping Framework - Visa’s Intelligent Commerce allows AI agents to shop and pay using tokenized “AI-ready” cards. Consumers can set spending limits and permissions for each agent. The platform supports personalization via shared purchase data.

2. Mastercard’s Agent Pay Goes Live - Mastercard’s Agent Pay integrates payments into AI chats using secure agentic tokens. Users get full control over what the agent can buy and when. It also works across AI platforms with Microsoft, IBM, and Checkout.com.

3. Privacy and Security by Design - Both systems ensure agents act only with user consent, using tokenized credentials and authentication layers. Agents must be verified before making transactions. Real-time fraud protection and dispute tools are built in.

4. Partnerships for Scaled AI Commerce - Visa and Mastercard are collaborating with OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Microsoft, and others. Their goal is to build a scalable, trustworthy payment infrastructure for AI-powered shopping.

AI shopping is evolving from assistance to action, handling discovery, decision-making, and payments. Visa and Mastercard are setting the standard for safe, scalable agentic commerce. If your brand isn’t preparing for AI-native transactions, you’ll soon be behind.

👁️ Altman’s World Unveils Orb Mini and Global Expansion

Tools for Humanity, co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched the Orb Mini, an eye-scanning mobile device for verifying digital human identity. Designed by ex-Apple talent, the Orb Mini builds on World’s blockchain-based identity project, now rebranded from Worldcoin to World.

The Decode:

1. Orb Mini Launches with Portable Verification Power - Orb Mini replicates the original Orb’s biometric scanning capability in a compact, smartphone-like form. It scans users’ irises to assign a unique human ID on the blockchain. World aims to deploy 7.5K devices across six major U.S. cities by 2025.

2. Tinder & Financial Integrations Expand Reach - World is piloting identity verification on Tinder in Japan to curb fake profiles. Verified users can now log into prediction market Kalshi and lending platform Morpho via World ID.

3. The World Card Brings Crypto to Real-World Payments -  In partnership with Visa, World is launching a crypto debit card later this year. It auto-converts crypto to fiat at checkout and offers rewards in WLD tokens. The card connects to the World App and works at 150 million merchants globally.

4. Stripe Partnership and Massive Growth Plans - A new integration with Stripe will let users pay on Stripe-enabled platforms using World ID. World now boasts 26 million enrollments and 12 million verified users globally. With storefronts opening in six U.S. cities, the push for mainstream adoption is underway.

World is quickly becoming the most aggressive player in biometric digital ID. Its ability to merge crypto, dating, and payments under a human-verification layer gives it a unique edge in the AI age. If it succeeds, “proving you’re human” may become a daily digital ritual.
